04 What the Fog?

Things don’t always go to plan.

Today was suppose to be a spectacular day for catching a great sun set with rolling clouds and incredibly clear weather. All the planning apps told me so. I was suppose to go and chase my muse to Baker beach and capture some spectacular vision. The picture was suppose to look like this:

Ansel Adams Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach, 1952

This was taken by Ansel just after a great storm had rolled through the bay area, and I was hoping to capitalize on similar conditions as a first draft. Much more will be written about this photo as I plan to go back after you see my attempt at this.

While I am reasonably certain I was in the right place, the conditions were a bit less than ideal. As I rolled up to see what I could find, I stumbled into this:

Where the hell is the bridge?

So I had three applications, telling me the same things with strong evidence to support a great set up. It was suppose to be an amazing night with clear views of the bay. I was excited to get there and scout the scene out, however in this case I learned something else new.

You can’t control everything. I did make it down to Baker Beach and see some light filtering in below, but for now, Ansel will have to wait.

As we left, some sun poked through over San Francisco and I was able to salvage Andy’s take below, but Baker Beach will have to wait.
